A Masseria Wedding in Puglia

Holly & Ahmed

Picture a destination wedding near to a coastal location with olive groves & white buildings. Most people think of weddings in Greece or Spain however one location that is too often overlooked is Puglia.

A Puglian destination wedding has it all – from gorgeous Masseria’s with the twinkly fairy lights,  Puglian wine and glorious Italian cuisine. You are usually only a 10/15 minute drive to the local beach however most of the time you feel as though you are hours away from anything amongst the beautiful Olive Groves.

Masseria Torre Coccaro is a hidden gem that can not be missed. Surrounded by olive groves more than 800 years old, there are so many incredible corners perfect for your wedding portraits. This South Italy wedding venue is perfect for a destination wedding, offering al fresco dining, accommodation & incredible Puglian food.

Our colour inspiration came from the blue and white tiles around the venue along with Mediterranean Citrus fruits. We brought in elements such as watercolour paper invitations through to the dining table on the day. We also wanted to create a table plan that felt natural and organic, so we used dried oranges along with a Perspex cover to include the guest name and table number hanging from the old olive tree in the courtyard.

Our Bride wore a stunning Alexandra Grecco dress with a very simple modern look to contrast with the old Masseria and our Groom wore a stylish, skinny cut suit along with a floral blue bow tie.

The white wooden tables were decorated with a white cheesecloth runner, gold elements such as candle holders, cutlery and blue & white patterned chargers. The favours were blue & white decorated biscuits that were made to look like tiles.

For the wedding cake, we used a traditional Italian Millefoglie, with layers of custard cream, puff pastry layers and fresh fruits. I always enjoy bringing in traditional delicacies like this because it’s not something you can easily get anywhere else and it’s always great for your guests to try fresh local food. We always like to bring something a little unconventional along to our weddings, so we booked a lovely little wine van perfect for serving your guests during cocktail hour due to enjoy a glass of local wine or two.
